Dosha Quiz

In Ayurveda, your dosha is the elemental blend that shapes your body, mind and moods. Five questions reveal which of the three — Vata, Pitta or Kapha — leads in you.

QUESTION 1 OF 5

How would you describe your body frame?

Vata, Pitta and Kapha — the three doshas

Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, describes every person as a unique blend of three functional energies called doshas. Vata is wind and space — the principle of movement, quick and creative. Pitta is fire and water — the principle of transformation, sharp and driven. Kapha is earth and water — the principle of structure, steady and enduring. Your dominant dosha is the one that shapes your tendencies most strongly, but balance — not type — is the goal.

Your dosha is one layer of a fuller portrait. In the Orvela app it reads alongside your birth chart, your life path number and your Vedic nakshatra — and unlike a one-off quiz, it tracks how your balance shifts across the seasons and remembers what steadies you.

Common questions

What are the three doshas?

The three doshas are Vata (wind and space — movement, creativity, change), Pitta (fire and water — transformation, focus, drive), and Kapha (earth and water — structure, steadiness, endurance). Everyone is a blend of all three, but usually one or two lead.

How is my dosha calculated?

Your dosha is scored from your answers to five questions about your body, sleep, appetite, stress response and climate preference. Each answer maps to Vata, Pitta or Kapha; the one you choose most often is your dominant dosha. It is a simple, transparent tally — no guesswork.

Can I have two dominant doshas?

Yes. Many people are dual-dosha (for example Vata-Pitta or Pitta-Kapha) when two types score closely. This quiz names your single strongest type; the Orvela app reads your full three-way balance and how it shifts through the year.

Is a dosha the same as a zodiac sign?

No. Your dosha comes from Ayurveda — an Indian system of constitution and balance — while your zodiac sign comes from the position of the Sun at your birth. They describe different layers. Orvela reads both together, alongside your life path and today’s sky.

Your dosha means one thing to everyone — and another to you

A quiz names your type. Orvela reads it against your actual chart, your life path and today’s sky, then remembers what balances you day after day.
