Birth Chart Calculator

Your birth chart is the whole sky at the moment you were born — Sun, Moon, rising and every planet. We compute it from a real ephemeris, not a lookup table.

What a birth chart actually is

A birth chart freezes the sky at your first breath. The Sun shows your essential nature, the Moon your emotional world, and the rising sign — the zodiac degree climbing the eastern horizon at your birth — how you meet life and how others first experience you. Around them, each planet marks a different function of the psyche, and the twelve houses map those energies onto the arenas of a life: love, work, home, purpose.

A chart is not a verdict; it is a language. In the Orvela app it reads alongside your life path number, your Vedic nakshatra and today’s transits — turning a static map into a living daily conversation that deepens each time you return.

Common questions

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart (or natal chart) is a map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born. It shows where the Sun, Moon and every planet sat against the zodiac, and which houses they fell in. It is the foundation every other astrology reading is built on.

What are the big three in astrology?

The “big three” are your Sun sign (core identity and will), your Moon sign (emotional inner world) and your rising sign, or ascendant (how you meet the world and how others first read you). Together they give a far fuller picture than a Sun sign alone.

Do I need my exact birth time?

For your Sun, Moon and planets, an approximate time is usually enough. For your rising sign and house placements you need an accurate birth time, because the ascendant changes about every two hours. If you don’t know your time, we compute everything that doesn’t depend on it and flag the rest.

How is this birth chart calculated?

Every position is computed from a Swiss Ephemeris — the same astronomical engine used by professional astrology software — against your exact birth date, time and place. It is real positional astronomy, not an approximation.

Your chart means one thing in a textbook — and another in your life

A chart wheel shows the positions. Orvela reads what they mean for you, against your numerology and today’s sky, and remembers every word for tomorrow.
